THEREDS: Liverpool planning Toffee swoop in January

Reports on the internet have suggested that Liverpool are planning a January swoop on Everton’s creative midfielder Steven Pienaar. The former Dortmund player only has few months of his contract left to run and with no new agreement forthcoming, Toffee’s boss David Moyes may feel it wise to cash in.

Everton may wish to sell in January but Moyes has already stated that he would be happy for Pienaar to leave for free after the dedication he has already given the club. However, with Everton wanting to climb the Premiership ladder and in the meantime put precious points between themselves and Liverpool, they may just keep Pienaar on and see what can be arranged in the summer.

Liverpool do have some money to spend and although the Everton midfielder would probably on warrant bids of around £2m in January, they may well do so in the hope of buying some talent with the ability to provide some better service to Fernando Torres.

Liverpool are not the only club to be interested in the versatile midfielder and the Kop will likely find there is competition from clubs in Italy and Spain, as well as Tottenham abroad.
