THEREDS: The Merseyside Derby

After the week Liverpool fans have had, perhaps a few can be forgiven for forgetting that the club’s bread and butter is actually playing football matches — rather than fighting legal battles against increasingly unstable American owners.
But then again, perhaps such distractions from football matters aren’t the end of the world, because things on the pitch aren’t exactly going to plan either right now. Currently entrenched in the relegation zone, manager Roy Hodgson is already under a fair amount of pressure to turn around a side that has looked below par in the early stages of the season.
Not that the situation is too much better on the blue half of Merseyside. Everton might have picked up a morale-boosting away win at Birmingham City last time out, but they still find themselves ensconced in the bottom half of the table after a disappointing opening few weekends.
The stakes are always high in a Merseyside derby, but with the two sides set to meet at Goodison Park on Sunday, both could really do with a win. But which set of fans are more likely to come away from the game with a smile restored to their face?
